HACULLA (SS21)

HACULLA S/S 2021. The latest collection is drawing from the emotions, frustrations and obstacles facing creatives trying to survive in New York City whilst being under lock down in the epicenter of the Covid-19 pandemic. Drawing on artworks in the street and created in studio as a direction emotional reaction to the instability that has quickly spread across the world. Key phrases are "ghost town," "new york tough," "stayin alive," and "burning inside." Visually there is a focus on fire and burning, and also the iconic Haculla eyes are shown on fire. "Eyes on fire" refers to the pain of what is happening to modern society - the destruction, the anger, the lack of unity, and the lack of direction and future stability. The collection is a compilation of all these emotions, and questions, transformed into a series of photos and paintings paired with our own writings and text intended to provoke thought and uplift everyone to rebound from this grim moment on earth.
